You wake up before sunrise for work. Your roommate is in his room, still on her video game from last night. Her boyfriend must have stayed the night too, because he’s still working on his English essay.
You say something like, “Good morning…”
But, it’s not morning for them. It’s still the night before to them. The boyfriend says, “Goodnight.” to be ironic, but is he right?
The realist might say, no. It’s five in the morning, even if you haven’t gone to bed yet. The English major might say that the sun hasn’t risen, thus a new day hasn’t started. A philosopher might argue that time is quite subjective, and that they are both subjectivly right.
What do you think? Maybe my eyes aren’t real and none of it matters!
