The fog lifted from the smoking city ruins, farmlands struck, destroyed, trampled by colossi. Yaska finally saw exactly what they had been fighting, what had razed this corner of town in seconds. Not just giant men, but giant winged beasts. They had the bright feathered wings of angels, the teeth of demons. Claws like animals, bald skin where eyes should have been. Many had bandages over that space, hiding their missing eye sockets. An army of angels.
“An army of beasts more fearsome then me…”
She felt her temperature rise, her eyes turning a brighter shade of red. Yaska unfurled her large bat wings and went for the throats. All of them.
Hours ago Chloe had confronted Janna. “You don’t have to come if you don’t think you can fight.”
“No…” Chloe shook her head. “If you go, I am going too. It does not matter if I can fight or not.”
“Fine.” She looked at her younger sister, and smiled ruthlessly, “But if you don’t fight, stay out of my way!”
