Happy 68th birthday to Glenn Tipton, my favourite Judas Priest guitarist, born on October 25th, 1947! Glenn Tipton is a fantastic writer and crucial member of Judas Priest, and also a legendary guitarist. He can still play fast, heavy songs at his age and he and the rest of Priest are working on an 18th album even now!
From what I’ve gathered through interviews, it seems Glenn Tipton’s favourite tracks from the new album, Redeemer of Souls, are Cold Blooded, March of the Damned and Secrets of the Dead. We know that Glenn Tipton’s solo albums were written by him, but he also wrote these Judas Priest songs solo:
Hell Bent for Leather
Epitaph (an obvious one, with him on piano)
And a lot of Demolition: Machine Man, Jekyll and Hyde, Devil Digger, In Between, Feed on Me.
Demolition sounds a lot like Baptism of Fire, so this makes sense. Interesting to see he still wears red on black with long sleeves as he did in the Demolition days. Something tells me he likes the album more than people think. I would recommend checking it out, or any of his solo albums. I am a personal fan of Baptism of Fire, it has a very interesting sound and you can hear Tipton on lead vocals!
