WRITE A BLOG POST on Stephen King’s advice to writers. Your post should include:
-links to the two articles we read
-identify up to THREE points you think are important in both (or each), and explain why they are important to you
-identify the suggestions he makes that you think most apply to you, and say why/how his advice will help you
1. When writing, disconnect from the world.
This is likely true for me. When I draw, I tend to do it in my room with the light off, using a desk lamp. Doing this for writing will probably help focus and whatnot.
2. Master the art of description.
Basically, kill the fluff. You can get lost in description, and if you do your reader will probably lose your book. I want to get good and differentiating between effective and ineffective descriptive text. Cut what doesn’t matter, but still leave some description in there.
3. Don’t give too much background information.
Like description, I want to figure out how much background information I should put in. Some of my characters have a lot of background. How do I effectively put those into the story without it getting boring?
